Monsignor Vescovo di Jesi. Dal Prior Benigni mi è stata presentata la lettera di V. S. le cui espressioni hò gradito in particolar maniera per esser persuasa della cordial parzialità di chi le produce. La ringrazio poi del suo libretto ricevuto da me con quella stima che meritano i frutti della virtù, e della bontà sua. Mi raccomando a' suoi santi sacrificj, mentre io prego Dio che la prosperi.

P. S. Io hò pregato il detto Priore d'accertar V. S. della sincera stima ed affetto, che sempre più professo al suo merito, ed alla virtù sua; Ella edifichi sempre più il Publico con le sue belle opere. Io per me, desidero che il suo merito non stia sempre nascosto in Jesi, mà che venga ad illustrar presto questa Corte tanto bisognosa de' pari suoi; E dove troverà V. S. communicazione d'idioma, se non con l'unico Card. Azzolino, primo mio? ed a' suoi sacrificj ed orazioni mi raccomando.

J'ai été présentée par le prieur Benigni avec la lettre de Votre Excellence, dont j'ai particulièrement apprécié les expressions pour me persuader de la cordiale partialité de celui qui les produit. Alors je la remercie de son livret reçu par moi avec cette estime que méritent les fruits de sa vertu et de sa bonté. Je me recommande à ses saints sacrifices, tandis que je prie Dieu qu'il la prospère.

P. S. J'ai prié ledit prieur d'assurer Votre Excellence de la sincère estime et affection que je professe de plus en plus à son mérite et à sa vertu; elle édifie de plus en plus le public avec ses belles œuvres. Pour moi, je désire que son mérite ne soit pas toujours caché en Jesi, mais qu'elle vienne bientôt illustrer cette cour qui a tant besoin de ses pairs; et où Votre Excellence trouvera-t-elle la communication d'idiome, sinon avec l'unique cardinal Azzolino, mon cousin? Monsignor vescovo di Jesi,

Jag har av prior Benigni erhållit Ers Excellens' brev, vars uttryck jag särskilt uppskattat att övertygas om den hjärtliga partiskheten hos den som framställer dem. Sedan tackar jag Er för Ert libretto mottaget av mig med den aktning som frukterna av Er dygd och godhet förtjänar. Jag befaller mig till Era heliga uppoffringar, medan jag ber till Gud att han välsigne Er.

P. S. Jag har bett nämnde priorn att försäkra Ers Excellens om den uppriktiga aktning och tillgivenhet som jag mer och mer bekänner till Er förtjänst och till Er dygd; Ni bygger allmänheten mer och mer med Era vackra verk. För min egen skull önskar jag att Er förtjänst inte alltid döljs i Jesi, utan att Ni snart kommer för att illustrera detta hov så i behov av Era likar; och var kommer Ers Excellens att finna kommunikation av idiom, om inte med den ende kardinal Azzolino, min kusin? Och jag rekommenderar mig till Era uppoffringar och böner.

Monsignor the Bishop of Jesi,

I have been presented by Prior Benigni with Your Excellency's letter, the expressions of which I have particularly appreciated to be persuaded of the cordial partiality of the one who produces them. Then I thank you for your libretto received by me with that esteem that the fruits of your virtue and goodness deserve. I commend myself to your holy sacrifices, while I pray to God that He bless you.

P. S. I have begged the said Prior to ascertain Your Excellency of the sincere esteem and affection that I profess more and more to your merit and to your virtue; you edify the public more and more with your beautiful works. For my own sake, I desire that your merit be not always hidden in Jesi, but that you come soon to illustrate this court so in need of your peers; and where will Your Excellency find communication of idiom, if not with the only Cardinal Azzolino, my cousin? And I recommend myself to your sacrifices and prayers.
