Tous les François qui étoient à Stokolm, chez la Reine de Suéde, sont étourdis du bâteau: on leur a donné leur congé, pour les folies de Bourdelot, qui y étoit premier Medecin: la Reine vouloit retenir nôtre bon ami Monsieur Naudé, qui y étoit Bibliothéquaire, mais il a lui-même demandé son congé, ne voulant plus long-tems demeurer là tout seul: à quelque chose, malheur est bon; j'aime mieux qu'il soit ici que là: tout le Nord ne vaut point ce digne personnage. ...

La reine vouloit retenir notre bon ami M. Naudé, qui y étoit bibliothécaire; mais il a lui-même demandé son congé, ne voulant plus longtemps demeurer là tout seul. ... Från Paris den 24 maj 1653.
Alla fransmännen som var i Stockholm hos Sveriges Drottning är virriga av båten; de tagit sin avsked på grund av Bourdelots dårskap, som var den första läkaren där. Drottningen ville behålla vår gode vän monsieur Naudé, som var bibliotekarien där; men själv frågade han om lov, och ville inte stanna ensam där längre. Inget ont som inte har något gott med sig; jag föredrar att det vore här än där: hela norr är inte värt denna värdiga karaktär. ...
English translation (my own):
... From Paris, May 24, 1653.
All the Frenchmen who were in Stockholm with the Queen of Sweden are dizzy from the boat; they were given their leave because of the follies of Bourdelot, who was the first doctor there. The Queen wished to retain our good friend Monsieur Naudé, who was librarian there; but he himself asked for his leave, not wanting to stay there any longer on his own. There's some silver lining; I prefer it to be here than there: the whole of the north is not worth this worthy personage. ...

Note: In French it is said proverbially that one is quite dizzy from the boat (étourdi du bateau) when something has recently happened to one which has caused one some confusion of mind.
