The letter:

Ne manquez pas d'écrire à l'ami de Kiel, que j'accepte le parti de protéger son ouvrage de mon mieux. Ne vous engagez pas à la quantité de la somme, jusqu'à votre retour, dans lequel vous pouvez accorder avec lui sur le prix. Vous pouvez faire la même chose pour les livres de Suède. Quand vous aurez fait ce que vous aurez à faire, venez causer avec moi.

English translation (my own):

Do not fail to write to the friend of Kiel [Academy], that I accept the party of protecting his work as best I can. Do not agree to the amount of the sum until your return, upon which you can agree with him on the price. You can do the same for books from Sweden. When you have done what you have to do, come and talk to me.
