Ricordi dati dal Signor Cederkrans à Monsigr. Nunzio di Nimega 4. Febr. 1679.
Li prega S. Eccellenza d'avvertire negll'Instromenti del Trattato di Nimega dove occorrerà parlar della Regina mia Signora, e de' suoi interessi, che S. M. desidera che si usino le seguenti riflessioni.
I. Che non si dia mai il titolo di «Serenissima» alla S. M. ma si dica semplicemente «Regina Christina».
II. Che non comporti che S. M. sia nominata mai doppo altro Principe, eccettuato il Papa, e l'Imperatore, ai quali soli cede, pretendendo di trattarsi del pari con tutti gli altri Monarchi del Mondo.
III. Per oviare a tutte le difficoltà si potrebbe sar una scrittura particolare sopra gl'interessi della Regina, dove del nominar la sua sacra Persona, si trattasso nel modo più conveniente alla M. S., e quella si potrebbe consegnar a S. M. in forma amplissima, dichiarando in essa, che di commun, e scambievole consenso, si è da tutti gl'interessati concordemente convenuto in tal, e tal modo, di sodisfar alle giuste pretensioni, interessi e sodisfazioni della Regina, con la Garantia di tutte li Parti interessate delle Potenze guerreggianti, e che di quest'Instromento reciprocamente sottoscritto da tutte le Parti, ne siano consegnati alla Regina gli Originali, nei quali si nomini la M. S. in primo luogo, e reciprocamente la Regina sottoscrivesse un simil Instromento col quale s'obligasse a tali e tali condizioni, delle quali si sarà convenuto, e nel quale la Regina si nomini nel modo solito, che si nominano gli altri Principi nelle loro scritture.
Ed averta che in tutte le occasioni dove si havrà da parlare in nome della Regina, e quando si havesse da nominare le due Corone, o il Rè di Suezia, e di Francia, Spagna, o altri, bisognerà dar la precedenza al Rè di Suezia, ma dove occorrerà nominar la Regina & il Rè di Suezia, la Regina dovrà esser messa in primo luogo.
Tutto questo si confida alla prudentissima attenzione di S. Eccellenza confidandosi, che havrà mira di sostener il decoro della Regina, e la gloria del suo gran nome, nella più degna maniera che richiede il sublime grado, e qualità della M. S. la quale ne resterà con un sommo gradimento a S. Eccellenza, alla quale si significa, che di queste materie la M. S. non hà voluto incaricar l'Eminen:mo. Sig. Cardinal Azzolino, com'hà fatto degli altri suoi gravissimi interessi, perche hà stimato di non dover imbarazzar S. Em:za. in materie di tanta gelosia; Onde hà voluto la M. S. dar lei stessa per mezzo mio questi ricordi a S. Eccellenza a cui servirà il tutto d'aviso.

On prie Son Excellence d'observer que Sa Majesté desire, que dans les Instrumens du Traité de Nimégue, où l'on fera mention de la Reine ma Maîtresse, & de ses intérêts, on prête attention aux réflexions suivantes.
I. Qu'on ne donne jamais le titre de «Sérénissime» à S. M. mais qu'on dise simplement «Reine Christine».
II. Que S. M. ne soit jamais nommée après un autre Prince, excepté le Pape & l'Empereur, auxquels seuls elle céde, prétendant traiter de pair avec tous les autres Monarques du Monde.
III. Pour aller au devant de toutes les difficultés, on pourroit faire un Ecrit particulier sur les intérêts de la Reine, où en nommant sa Personne Sacrée on la traitât de la maniére la plus convenable à Sa Majesté; & cet Ecrit pourroit être remis à S. M. dans la forme la plus ample, en y déclarant, que d'un accord commun & réciproque tous les Intéressés sont unanimement convenus de satisfaire de telle & telle façon les justes prétentions, intérêts & réparations de la Reine, avec la garantie de toutes les Puissances intéressées dans la guerre; & que cet Instrument en original, réciproquement signé de tous les Partis, soit remis à la Reine, dans lequel le Nom de S. M. sera à la premiére place, & que dans l'autre, que la Reine signera, elle mettra qu'elle s'oblige à telles & à telles conditions dont on sera convenu, & où elle se nommera à la maniére accoutumée, comme les autres Princes le font dans leurs Ecrits.
On prendra garde que dans toutes les occasions où l'on parlera au nom de la Reine, & quand on nommera les deux Couronnes, ou le Roi de Suède, ou de France, ou les autres, il faut qu'on donne la préférence au Roi de Suède; mais là où l'on nommera la Reine & le Roi de Suède, la Reine doit être mise à la premiére place.
Tout ceci est confié à la prudente attention de Son Excellence, s'assurant qu'il aura soin de soutenir la dignité de la Reine & la gloire de sa haute réputation, de la maniére la plus digne, que requiert le sublime degré & qualité de S. M. qui en sera très-redevable à S. E. à laquelle elle veut bien faire entendre, qu'elle n'a pas voulu charger Son Eminence le Cardinal Azzolino de ceci, comme elle l'a fait de ses autres grands intérêts, parce qu'elle n'a pas voulu embarquer Son Eminence dans des affaires si délicates, & où il entre tant de jalousie; d'où S. M. a voulu elle-même, par mon moyen, faire part de ces points à Son Excellence, pour lui servir d'avis.

Hans Excellens bes att iaktta att Hennes Majestät önskar att i Nijmegenfördragets instrument där Drottningen, min härskarinna, och hennes intressen skall nämnas, uppmärksammas på följande reflektioner.
I. Att man aldrig ger Hennes Majestät titeln »Serenissima«, utan bara säger »Drottning Kristina«.
II. Att Hennes Majestät aldrig får nämnas efter någon annan furste som helst utom Påven och Kejsaren, för vilka hon ensam viker sig, görande anspråk på att behandlas i paritet med alla andra monarker i världen.
III. För att föregripa alla svårigheterna kunde man skriva en särskild skrivelse om Drottningens intressen, där hon, genom att nämna hennes heliga person, skulle behandlas på det sätt som är lämpligast för Hennes Majestät; och denna skrift kunde överlämnas till Hennes Majestät i den fullständigaste formen, däri förklarande att genom gemensam och ömsesidig överenskommelse har alla berörda enhälligt gått med på att på sådant och sådant sätt tillgodose Drottningens rättmätiga anspråk, intressen och skadestånd, med garantin av alla makter som är intresserade av kriget; och att detta instrument i original, ömsesidigt undertecknat av alla parter, överlämnas till Drottningen, i vilket Hennes Majestäts namn kommer att stå i första hand, och att i det andra, som Drottningen kommer att underteckna, kommer hon att sätta att hon binder sig till sådana och sådana villkor som man kommer överens om och där hon kommer att namnge sig själv på vanligt sätt, som de andra furstarna gör i sina skrifter.
Försiktighet bör iakttagas att vid alla tillfällen då man talar i Drottningens namn, och vid omnämnandet av de båda Kronorna, eller Konungen av Sverige, eller av Frankrike eller de andra, företräde måste ges till Konungen av Sverige; men där Sveriges Drottning och Konung nämnas, måste Drottningen sättas i första hand.
Allt detta är förpliktat till Hans Excellens' försiktiga uppmärksamhet, varande försäkrad om att han kommer att se till att upprätthålla Drottningens värdighet och äran av hennes höga rykte på det mest värdiga sätt som krävs av Hennes Majestäts sublima grad och kvalitet, som kommer att vara mycket tacksam till Hans Excellens, till vilken hon vill göra det kunnigt att hon inte ville anförtro Hans Excellens kardinal Azzolino detta, som hon gjorde med sina andra stora intressen, eftersom hon inte ville involvera Hans Excellens i så ömtåliga affärer, och i vilka det kommer in så mycket avundsjuka; därför önskade Hennes Majestät sig genom mig meddela dessa punkter till Hans Excellens för att tjäna som hans råd.
English translation (my own):
His Excellency is prayed to observe that Her Majesty desires that in the instruments of the Treaty of Nijmegen, where mention will be made of the Queen, my mistress, and of her interests, attention should be paid to the following reflections.
I. That one never gives Her Majesty the title "Serenissima", but simply says "Queen Kristina".
II. That Her Majesty must never be mentioned after any other prince except the Pope and the Emperor, to whom alone she yields, pretending to be treated on par with all the other monarchs of the world.
III. To anticipate all the difficulties, one could write a particular document on the interests of the Queen, where, in mentioning her sacred person, she would be treated in the manner most suitable to Her Majesty; and this writing could be delivered to Her Majesty in the fullest form, declaring therein that by common and reciprocal agreement all those concerned have unanimously agreed to satisfy in such and such a way the just claims, interests and reparations of the Queen, with the guarantee of all the powers interested in the war; and that this instrument in original, reciprocally signed by all parties, be delivered to the Queen, in which Her Majesty's name will be in the first place, and that in the other, which the Queen will sign, she will put that she binds herself to such and such conditions which will be agreed upon, and where she will name herself in the usual manner, as the other princes do in their writings.
Care should be taken that on all occasions when speaking in the name of the Queen, and when mentioning the two Crowns, or the King of Sweden, or of France, or the others, the preference must be given to the King of Sweden; but where the Queen and King of Sweden are mentioned, the Queen must be put in the first place.
All this is committed to His Excellency's prudent attention, being assured that he will take care to uphold the Queen's dignity and the glory of her high reputation in the most dignified manner required by the sublime degree and quality of Her Majesty, who will be very indebted to His Excellency, to whom she wishes to make it understood that she did not wish to entrust His Eminence Cardinal Azzolino with this, as she did with her other great interests, because she did not wish to involve His Eminence in such delicate affairs, and into which there enters so much jealousy; therefore Her Majesty wished herself, through me, to communicate these points to His Excellency, to serve as his advice.
