MADAME MA SŒUR,

Votre Majesté aura pu voir, par la réponse que le sieur de Lionne eut l'honneur de lui faire de la semaine passée, l'estime et la confiance avec laquelle j'ai reçu les offres portées par le dernier mémoire qu'elle lui avait adressé, et ce que j'ai mandé là-dessus à mon ambassadeur à Rome. Cette lettre maintenant est pour lui confirmer moi-même l'état singulier que je fais d'une marque si importante de son amitié envers moi, le ressentiment et le souvenir que j'en aurai, quoi qu'il arrive, et que de ma part on agira avec un secret inviolable, et une entière sincérité. Au reste, quoique ses offices soient toujours les mêmes auprès de moi, elle veut bien que je lui dise que désormais tout ce qu'ils peuvent pour ce qui regarde mon cousin le cardinal Azzolini sera d'augmenter ma joie quand j'aurai occasion de contribuer à ses avantages, car pour le désir de l'obliger, sa conduite et son mérite l'ont déjà mis en un point qu'il ne s'y peut rien ajouter.

Ers Majestät kommer att ha kunnat se, genom det svar som monsieur de Lionne hade äran att ge Er förra veckan, den aktning och det förtroende med vilket jag mottog erbjudandena från den senaste memorialen som Ni hade adresserat, och vad jag skickade. därpå till min ambassadör i Rom. Detta brev är nu för att bekräfta för Er mig själv det unika tillstånd som jag gör av en så viktig betygelse av Er vänskap mot mig, den tacksamhet och det minne som jag kommer att ha av Er, vad som än händer, och å andra sidan för min räkning, man skall agera med en okränkbar sekretess och fullständig uppriktighet. För övrigt, även om Era tjänster alltid är desamma med mig, vill Ni ju att jag skall säga Er att hädanefter allt de kan för vad som angår min kusin kardinal Azzolino kommer att öka min glädje när jag har tillfälle att bidra till hans fördelar, därför att för önskan att förplikta honom, hans uppträdande och hans förtjänst har redan satt honom i en punkt att ingenting kan läggas därtill.

Your Majesty will have been able to see, by the response that Monsieur de Lionne had the honour to give you last week, the esteem and the confidence with which I received the offers made by the last memorandum that you had addressed, and what I sent thereon to my ambassador in Rome. This letter now is to confirm to you myself the singular state that I make of such an important mark of your friendship towards me, the gratitude and the memory that I will have of you, whatever happens, and on my behalf on the other hand, one will act with an inviolable secrecy and complete sincerity. Besides, although your services are always the same with me, you wish me to tell you that henceforth all they can for what concerns my cousin Cardinal Azzolino will be to increase my joy when I have occasion to contribute to his advantages, because for the desire to oblige him, his conduct and his merit have already put him in a point that nothing can be added to it.
