Monsieur le Général Comte Montecuculi, je fais grand état de votre amitié, & crois que dans l'occasion pressante où j'ai besoin de la Cour de Vienne, vous ne me refuserez pas vos bons offices auprès de l'Empereur votre Maître, que je vous demande instamment, ayant aussi prié Monsieur le Nonce Apostolique de vous les demander de ma part. Ne me les refusez pas pour répondre dignement à la haute estime que j'ai pour votre personne, & que votre mérite vous a si justement acquise. Je crains que vous ne soyez plus à votre Cour, ce qui me priveroit d'un grand secours en cette rencontre: cependant vous savez mieux que personne ce qui s'est passé autrefois, & l'importance des projèts que je pourrai faire favorablement selon mes comptes, & qu'il y va de la gloire & de l'intérêt de l'Empereur-même d'appuyer la justice de ma cause; me remettant au reste à ce que ledit Monsieur le Nonce vous dira de ma part. Je souhaite que Dieu vous conserve & fasse prospérer.

Er vänskap är mycket viktig för mig, och tro att Ni vid det brådskande tillfället då jag behöver hovet i Wien inte kommer att vägra mig Era goda tjänster med kejsaren, Er herre, för vilka jag uppriktigt ber Er, efter att även ha bett den apostoliske nuntien att be Er om dem å mina vägnar. Avvisa dem inte för mig för att värdigt svara på den höga aktning som jag har för Er person och som Er förtjänst så rättvist har förvärvat för Er. Jag fruktar att Ni inte längre är vid Ert hov, vilket skulle beröva mig mycket hjälp i detta möte. Men Ni vet ju bättre än någon annan vad som hände i det förflutna, och vikten av de projekt som jag kommer att kunna genomföra positivt enligt mina redovisningar, och att kejsarens ära och intresse är att upprätthålla rättvisan i min sak, förlitar sig på vad den nämnde nuntien kommer att berätta för Er å mina vägnar. Your friendship is very important to me, and believe that on the urgent occasion when I need the court of Vienna, you will not refuse me your good services with the Emperor, your master, which I ask of you earnestly, having also asked the Apostolic Nuncio to ask you for them on my behalf. Do not refuse them to me in order to respond worthily to the high esteem which I have for your person and which your merit has so justly acquired for you. I fear that you are no longer at your court, which would deprive me of much help in this meeting. However, you know better than anyone what happened in the past, and the importance of the projects that I will be able to carry out favourably according to my accounts, and that the glory and the interest of the Emperor himself are to uphold the justice of my cause, relying on what the said Nuncio will tell you on my behalf. I wish that God preserve you and bless you.
