"... Elle avoit beau presser l'affaire, elle n'en put venir à une conclusion, pendant plusieurs années de suite. Elle en écrivit encore en 1678. aux Evêques de Culme, de Vratislau, de Warmie (Le 18. Mars 1678. Lettre à Diversi. p. 29. 30.), & à d'autres, qui sembloient être portés en sa faveur; mais l'affaire resta toujours indécise. Son Secretaire Santini, qui étoit alors malade, lui demanda par un Billet, comment il devoit dresser la Minute au Roi de Pologne, qui prétendit au même héritage qu'elle. Il lui dit (li .... 1678. Lettre à Diversi p. 77.): 'Je ferai la Lettre le mieux que je pourrai, & après V. M. la corrigera comme elle fait toutes les autres, en pardonnant mon ignorance, comme elle l'a fait toujours bénignement.' La Reine lui répondit sur le même Billet..."

"... Although she pressed the matter, she could not come to a conclusion for several years in a row. She wrote again in 1678 to the Bishops of Kulm, Bracław, Warmia (March 18, 1678. Lettere a diversi, pages 29, 30.), and to others, who seemed to be inclined to support her; but the affair remained undecided.

Her secretary Santini, who was then ill, asked her in a note how he should prepare the minute to the King of Poland, who claimed the same inheritance as her. He told her ([...] 1678. Lettere a diversi, page 77.): 'I will write the letter as best I can, and afterward Your Majesty will correct it as you do all the others, forgiving my ignorance, as you have always done so benignly.'

The Queen replied to him on the same note..."

The letter excerpt:

Vous direz que je suis prête à transiger avec la République sur ces intérêts, à des conditions justes & convenables aux deux Parties, comme je m'en suis expliquée expressément à Mr. l'Evêque de Warmie &c.

Ayez soin de votre santé, elle va avant toute autre chose.

Swedish translation (my own):

Ni skall säga att jag är beredd att kompromissa med Republiken om dessa intressen, om rättvisa och lämpliga villkor för de två delarna, som jag har förklarat det uttryckligen för biskopen i Ermsland, osv.

Ta hand om Er hälsa, den går före allt annat.

English translation (my own):

You will say that I am ready to compromise with the Republic on these interests, on just and suitable conditions for the two parts, as I have explained it expressly to the Bishop of Warmia, etc.

Take care of your health, it comes before anything else.

Notes: Kulm is the German name for Chełmno, a town in what is now Chełmno County in Poland's Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Bracław is the Polish name for Bratslav, which is now a rural settlement in Ukraine, in the Tulchyn Raion of Vinnytsia Oblast. In 1678 it was ruled by the Ottoman Empire (from 1672 to 1699) and was afterwards returned again to Poland.
