Excerpt from Peder Juel's letter to Peder Charisius, dated May 22/June 1 (Old Style), 1652

Source:

Bidrag til Dronning Christinas, det svenske Hofs og Corfitz Ulfeldts Historie, i Aarene 1651-1655, af Peder Juul's utrykte Breve til Charisius, article by Christian Molbech in Historisk tidsskrift, volume 5, page 328, published by Den Danske Historiske Forening, 1844
The letter excerpt:

Den 22. Mai.

With modernised spelling:

English translation (my own):

May 22. "The envoy from Lorraine is still here; he is a very bold liar, and never can a minister participate more by his master's nature than he. The Duke of Lorraine offers to lend the Queen as much money as she pleases; but with this distinction, that she will therefore pledge land and fixed places in Germany."

Above: Kristina.

Above: Charles IV, the Duke of Lorraine.

Notes: The envoy from Lorraine = Rousselot d'Hédival.

The Duke of Lorraine = Charles IV.
